Howl 02:51
A coyote wails in the dark. And tugs on a heart string with every bark. And you know you could have stayed here awhile, but a restless heart's gotta make that mile. So howl for the pack that you left behind! Howl for the wanderings of a wayward mind! Howl for the girl with the scarlet hair! And howl for the nights that you weren't there! A songbird rings in the dawn. Reminds you of what you've known all along. You can give and you can take, but a restless heart will always break. A coyote wails in the night. And serenades the city lights. And he dances at the river - by the sparkle of the moon - where the air is calm, the wild rose in bloom.

There's an old lake under a willow tree. There's an old lake under a willow tree. Won't my baby come down with me? Down to the lake and the willow tree. Won't my baby come down with me? Me, my baby, and the devil makes three. Me and my baby seen better times. Me and my baby seen better times. Lord it's hard, but Lord we tried! Me and my baby can't seem to get by. Lord it's hard, but Lord we tried! Love my baby 'til the day I die. Well, I gave my baby my hand to hold. Said I gave my baby my hand to hold. Starin' at the water, so dark and cold. I feel it runnin' through my bones. Starin' at the water, so dark and cold. Love my baby, let rest her soul. There's an old lake under a willow tree. There's an old lake under a willow tree. Won't you come down, Lord, and bring me peace? Before I lay my head to sleep, come down Lord and bring me peace. Down to the lake and the willow tree.

I went to the river for to get me a drink. To take in the air and to have me a think. I took my tribulation and I tossed it in a box. Tossed the box in the water - may it smash upon the rocks. I went to the river for to clear out my head. To skip me some stones, let 'em sink to the bed. But a copper come and grabbed me, and he showed me his fist. Said "This property is private and them privateers is pissed". They took me to the courthouse and the right noble judge, banged a cold hard gavel and he carried him a grudge. I'll stand my ground 'cause I can't stand the law - of the river privateers who'd skin their brothers raw.

Spencer Jo isn't interested in sugarcoating things. In fact, they’ve spent much of their musical life searching for sour truth and and exposing it. This has lead to their current incarnation as a folk artist with a biting edge that makes their social commentary poignant for anyone who listens. ... more
